An excellent reference for the classical treatment of diﬀerential geometry is the book by Struik . The more descriptive guide by Hilbert and Cohn-Vossen is also highly recommended. This book covers both geometry and diﬀerential geome-try essentially without the use of calculus. It contains many interesting results and. Can anyone suggest any basic undergraduate differential geometry texts on the same level as Manfredo do Carmo's Differential Geometry of Curves and Surfaces other than that particular one? (I know a similar question was asked earlier, but most of the responses were geared towards Riemannian geometry, or some other text which defined the concept of "smooth manifold" very early on. This is an introduction to diophantine geometry at the advanced graduate level. The book contains a proof of the Mordell conjecture which will make it quite attractive to graduate students and professional mathematicians. The traditional intro is Differential Geometry of Curves and Surfaces by Do Carmo, but to be honest I find it hard to justify reading past the first 3 chapters in your first pass (do it when you get to Riemannian geometry, which is presumably a long way ahead).
